| On the first Friday of each month, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, members of the Sedona Gallery Association offer a unique monthly showcase highlighting artists, special exhibits, and
art events. These special
art receptions give locals and Sedona visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments while beginning their weekends with an exploration of Sedona’s exciting art scene. For your convenience, the Sedona Trolley provides free transportation to venture from
art gallery to art gallery. Please refer to
the map on this site for all the trolley stops on the

El Prado by the Creek presents sculptor Marty
Goldstein. He doesn't mind a cold nose or a wagging
tail. In fact, he claims his studio has gone to the
dogs…And so has El Prado Gallery during the "Doggone
Good Times" show. Goldstein's "Harvey Dogs" are
whimsical sculptures of 'man's best friend' that
delight viewers and elicit belly laughs from gallery
guests. Come meet this engaging artist and experience
the sculptures that create a smile that lasts forever. |

Erickson
Studio Gallery will be presenting Marilyn
Erickson's latest painting. Visitors are welcome to
meet the artist and watch her at work. As an added
event, Ken Erickson, lyric baritone, will be casually
strolling around singing selections from well known
Broadway Musicals. |

Gallery
of Modern Masters will kick off their annual
Young Picasso weekend with artist Mada Leach and The
Young Picasso Contest. Students throughout Sedona,
Grades 3rd through 8th, have submitted their work to
be voted on by visitors starting this evening. The
event will also feature the mixed media work of
award-winning artist and educator, Mada Leach. Enjoy
catering by Zelo Cosi Italian Desert Café. |

Goldenstein Gallery premieres 'The Profound
Palette', a scintillating series which explores in
depth both local and regional art and the artist
behind their work. Meet featured artists including
Marlys Mallet and Rafe Terry. Experience Handbag
Couture by Beatrice Welles, daughter of the famous
film auteur Orson Welles. Watch Gaden Shartse Monks
creating a Tibetan Sand Mandala in the gallery. Enjoy
live music by Jack Reeves. |

James
Ratliff Gallery will be showing the latest
work of John Dawson. John will be present for the
opening and, after a short talk; he will be available
to answer any questions. |

Kinion Fine Art
will be featuring the work of the Sedona Visual
Artists' Coalition as a month-long preview for the
Open Studios event the 1st weekend in May. Many of
Sedona's best known artists will be featured in the
Art Vault and present at the reception. |

Kuivato Glass
Gallery will be featuring two internationally
known glass blowers, Peter Layton who is from London
and Peter Bremers who is from Holland. The artists
will be doing a book signing in the gallery during the
opening. |

Lanning Gallery
presents "Furniture Art," celebrating the fanciful yet
elegant designs and exceptional craftsmanship of
artist Avner Zabari's hand-made furniture. |

Mountain Trails Gallery presents a celebration
of Western Art featuring a father and son sculpture
exhibition and painter Suzanne Baker. Vic and Dustin
Payne are keeping the fine art of Western bronzes
alive. Mountain Trails is home of three generations of
the family. Suzanne Baker uses a unique painterly
style; she is able to depict the essence and lifestyle
of the rancher; his horses and the places they lived,
creating the feeling of the moment. Dustin Payne and
Suzanne Baker will be at the event painting, sculpting
and sharing stories of Western history with everyone. |

Sedona
Arts Center kicks off with a 4pm reading in
Poets Corner. The Fine Art Gallery will be showing
"Art of the Southwest," an invitational exhibition,
and in the Community Exhibition Gallery look for "Mary
Jane Oshier – A One Woman Retrospective. |

Turquoise
Tortoise Gallery welcomes the widely
successful Navajo mixed media artist Tony Abeyta in a
show entitled "In a Contemporary Manner." The artist,
who has twice been commissioned by the Smithsonian
Institution's National Museum of the American Indian,
has been represented by the gallery for over 20 years. |

VC Gallery of Fine
Art will feature the whimsical and unique
artwork of bronze artist, Jim Budish. Budish, an
Illinois sculptor is best known for his overemphasis
of form in sculpting of domestic and wildlife. On
display will be the 10 ft tall, Chauncey, a rabbit, a
favorite amongst collectors worldwide, in addition to
over 10 of the sculptors work. The gallery will also
be holding a drawing for a "Dinner for Two" gift
certificate from Dahl & DeLuca or Cucina Rustica. |

| The
SGA's "Art of Gold" event was truly
golden with large numbers of art
lovers filling the SGA galleries and
purchasing some great art, enjoying
lively conversation and opportunities
to meet several of the featured
artists. |

The lucky winner of the
big drawing in February was Julie Heflin of Bethesda
Maryland, who now has a $1000 gift
certificate to spend at any of the SGA galleries. |

"Artist
to Watch" on June 1-7, 2008
You could be the next big winner. "Art of Gold"
events offer $1000 gift certificates to SGA gallery
customers. For the Sedona Gallery Association it is an
opportunity to give back to art collectors who play
such an important role in supporting its member
galleries. For the entire first week, the 1st - 7th,
Evening in the Galleries art event will be given a
specific theme for each member to interpret in a way
that best represents their art gallery. For that
entire day and evening, every customer who makes a
purchase of $500 or more in any individual member
gallery will be given a ticket for a drawing that will
make them eligible to receive a $1000 gift
certificate, redeemable at any single SGA gallery
within thirty days. |

"Art of Gold" events are facilitated
by the SGA galleries and the selection of
the winning tickets are made the Monday
following each art event by the Sedona
Chamber of Commerce. |
