When it comes to photographers in Sedona, there is no lack of subjects nearby. The area is constantly a delightful compliment to the eye. Many artistic photographers that exhibit their work in Sedona don’t just photograph the scenery around them. Many gallery artists are known for their talents from photographing subjects abroad. One of the most well-known Sedona photographers is "Aurora" Dora Redman. Dora, who relocated from Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Alaska in 2001 and has been chasing and photographing Aurora Borealis (the Northern Lights) ever since. "I never heard about the Northern Lights before I moved to Alaska. The first time I saw them it was love at first sight. That was it! From here on I knew what I wanted to do, I wanted to share the Auroras with the world and show them to everyone who doesn't have the opportunity to see the Northern lights. That's what I have been doing since." Her creations can be seen on the Aurora Dora Gallery website, in many Lodges in Alaska and at her gallery, Aurora Dora, in Sedona, Arizona. Within Goldenstein Gallery, see photographer and artist Betty Hum’s work. Hum has traveled the world extensively, especially Asia and Europe, which inspired her to make photography a creative endeavor. As an attorney, she refocused her lens in 2016 and has been also making room for photographing educational and community events for the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, including: artist residencies and master classes, arts enrichment events for educators, students, and seniors, hands on workshops, museum and other special events. In addition, she has provided photography for other non-profits. Having been fascinated with the impact of light and movement, Hum finds this interesting juxtaposition worth photographing. In between practicing law, Hum took photography classes and workshops around the world to enable her to capture the feelings and motions of dance, birds, as well as other wildlife. In addition to paying closer attention to the motion of people and wildlife, Hum also said she has spent considerable time photographing birds and capturing their movement. Hums states that she could spend hours waiting and watching nature until her focus landed on a special moment. Within ALT Gallery, you will also find works of artistic photographers. ALT Gallery is the premier secondary market art gallery in Northern Arizona and an amazing curation of all things artistic. Areas represented in the ALT Gallery collection are endless, and you will find yourself lost in the options of works few may have possibly ever seen.
